This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach at Title I School in an urban setting in Georgia. The majority of the students come from low-income households. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, my students come to school eager to learn.
The future of America is in my classroom.
They are ready to find out about new learning experiences in order to grow both personally and academically. I love finding new ways to keep them engaged and learning in my classroom. They are all bright minds with so much left to learn. I am always on the hunt for ways to spice up the classroom to benefit them.
If students are not engaged, they are not going to learn. Having a student centered, highly engaging learning environment is extremely important to me. If I can engage my students in the curriculum in a unique way, it will lead to increased academic success.
Bringing a stage into the classroom will promote a high level of engagement.
It will help my students be more active in the learning process, versus just sitting and listening. I also want my students to be leaders and have confidence in what they know. Using a classroom stage will help build that confidence.
The stage will become an integral part of our daily learning routine. I will teach new content while standing on the stage. Students will use to the stage to share their learning and for special presentations. I also strive to provide as many opportunities for them to have positive attention and to encourage their hard work. On the stage, they will have the opportunity to be the center of attention.
A classroom stage will help my students grow academically and socially.
