This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember struggling to see the board in elementary school? Help second graders see their lessons as well as their own work on display!

I teach 2nd grade to an amazing group of low-income students in California.

Though almost 90% of the students at our school receive free lunch, they are showing amazing growth and working very hard to learn each day. Last year, our school was excited to learn that we had some of the largest academic gains of any elementary school in the entire school district. Though we have had lots of success, we still have a long way to go and are in need of materials to achieve even more.

My Project

With a document camera I can place a page of a book, an object or a piece of student work under the camera and it will be projected onto our dry erase board large enough for all to see! Math games, multiple step math problems, student writing and more will be easy to share when all students can see what is being presented. The elimination of messy transparencies and copying problems onto chart paper will save time, energy and paper! Students will be so thrilled to see their work displayed on the projector as they share their problem solving or writing strategies. I will be able to more effectively deliver a lesson because I can write on the displayed page without turning my back on my students. My school is able to provide a projector, so all my class needs is this document camera!

Please help us retire the outdated, bulky, loudly-humming overhead projector cart forever!
