Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The learners at IES are avid readers by the time they reach me in the third grade. Third grade is a transitional time from picture to chapter books. Students at IES develops a love of reading in kindergarten. By the time they reach third grade, most are ready for chapter books that are higher than their grade level. My third class loves to read, and I am running out of books. My students enjoy and crave their 45 minute independent reading time.
My Project
My classroom library is a place where my students enjoy exploring new adventures. My third-grade classroom lacks chapter books that will satisfy their reading cravings. This project will also help them choose more books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will help.
I also have many incomplete book series in my classroom library.
Many book series print a new one every few months, and it is hard to keep up.
My students come from diverse families and socioeconomic backgrounds, so it is challenging to have a book club to help stock the classroom bookshelf. These books can help my students continue their love of reading.
