We work with students in kindergarten through 5th grade who are at least 1 year behind their peers in reading. We work with them using a research-based phonics program in small groups of 2-4 students. By delivering targeted, data-driven support, we are working to fill skill gaps in phonics and reading comprehension that are keeping our students from reaching their grade level peers.
Our goal with this project is to re-stock our prize box!
For every 5 days that a student is in group working hard on their reading skills, they get to choose an item out of our prize box. These little trinkets are a real motivator!
My Project
Our students work in a Bull Pup Block reading group for 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week. Each day, they earn a sticker for their hard work. After 5 stickers, they get to choose a prize out of our coveted prize box.
Bull Pup Block students LOVE earning fidget toys, stress balls, slime, pencils, and little trinkets as prizes for their effort in reading group.
They work hard each day to accumulate the 5 stickers needed to choose a prize from the prize box. Having choices in our prize box is an important part of this motivation tool!
