Help Provide Basic Classroom Supplies

My students need basic classroom supplies to start off the new school year: erasers, expo markers, colored pencils, graph paper, a set of 12 graphic novels for lower readers, and invisible ink pens for fun!

My Students

This project is written to support learning Math within a special education classroom at an inner city middle school.

These students range in abilities, experiences with trauma, instability with their housing, foster care, and homelessness.

Many participate in the school's family outreach program that supplies essential clothing and/or a backpack of food on the weekends for families in severe need. Despite their struggles, these students are sensitive, kind, and, above all, they desire positive attention.

With DonorsChoose, I have received classroom resources that make learning more accessible and fun! These are just 11- to 12-year old children. Thank you in advance for helping them develop skills needed to be positive members of their school and community.

My Project

The cost of basic supplies, adds up quick! I need your help to restock the classroom. Writing is the hardest skill for students, so I also requested invisible ink pens to add some fun to their school day. The students also need graph paper and colored pencils to support learning middle school math.

Basic classroom items such as erasers, expo markers, colored pencils, and pencil sharpeners are taken for granted, but used daily.

I also requested a graphic novel for lower readers because it is often hard to find books appropriate for middle schoolers that have limited or reduced reading skills. By providing a book they can read, I hope to plant a love for reading. These supplies will be used daily throughout our 2018 school year.
