Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We need listening centers and 2nd grade appropriate audio books for our literacy canter!
We are a charter school that serves students from all over our urban city, but primarily to students from lower income areas and military families.
They are hard working, sweet, fun kids who LOVE to read and write.
Our school is a writing-based elementary school. We build students' academic self-confidence to participate in the global community by setting rigorous academic standards.
My Project
Literacy centers are areas in my classroom created to allow students time for independent reading and writing practice designed to their individual literacy level. One important center is a Listening Station where students listen and follow along to audio books. Because I have moved grade levels several times in the last few years, I only have 4th and Kindergarten level books. I am now excited to begin my first year teaching 2nd grade, but need help buying these audio books!
Literacy centers are to provide meaningful literacy practice and reinforce learning.
They are used to build confidence, provide successful experiences and accommodate independent and/or small group opportunities.
I want my students to continue to feel accomplished and successful as developing readers. If you donate to our audio library, you will help foster a life long LOVE for reading for 100's of little brains!
