Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this project. I am an Itinerant Preschool Special Education teacher for a rural area in Virginia. Since I am a traveling teacher, I need help building a library of books for my students. My sweet students are 2–5 years old and all have developmental delays. A developmental delay means they have a deficit/delay in one or more of the following areas of development: academic, language, motor, and adaptive.
The preschool years are a beautiful time full of learning and exploration, which provides a foundation for the rest of their lives.
My students' delays make it difficult for them to navigate their environment like typically developing peers, making extra educational books necessary to help in their learning and development.
These books will facilitate their learning by providing fun, interactive stories. These stories will hold their attention and help them explore books in a variety of ways! With this project and the right books, my students would have better support in the educational environment that would otherwise not be available to them.
