Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an ESE Specialist in a Title I school with several classrooms of unique students with physical and intellectual disabilities, we have to meet their academic, social/emotional, independent functioning and communication needs.
Some of our students require alternative means of communication and benefit from high and low-tech communication devices.
They are eager to learn and are motivated to make the most of every opportunity. With your support, I would love to provide them with every possible opportunity to increase their communication skills so that their voices can be heard.
My Project
The iPads I am requesting will enable our students to experience communication in a more engaging and motivating way. Our students range in ability from being non-verbal and in need of communication boards and basic language apps to those who are working on increasing their vocabulary and improving their grammar.
Through language therapy, these iPads will help meet the many challenges of providing therapy on a limited budget.
In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, even students from lower-income backgrounds need and deserve access to the best technology resources.
This project will help grant our students this access, at least during their small group therapy sessions. Many apps and tools available on the iPad are evidence based for use in therapy and will enhance the quality of service provided to our students.
