Help Our Students Make Craft Kits for Children's Hospital Patients
Help me give my students Prang Master Pack of Crayons, Peel N Stick Mosaic Coaster Kit, Elmer''s Glue-All and HP 63XL Tri-color High Yield Original Ink Cartridge so we can make craft kits for patients at Children's Hospital.
Our class is a life skills transition class for students who have developmental delays and autism. Our students are between the ages of 18 and 21 and are working on skills to help them in their lives after high school. Our students' disabilities affect their cognitive skills, fine motor skills and ability to follow directions.
Our students' disabilities impact their ability to perform vocational tasks.
We focus on teaching them skills that will strengthen their vocational skills and will hopefully help lead to success in the workplace. Our class is in a large, urban, public high school. Many of my students are on free or reduced lunch. My students have varying degrees of cognitive delays.
Our students learn a combination of communication, independent living, vocational/employment and social/leisure/recreation skills both in our classroom and in the community. We are creating life-long learning opportunities for our students to succeed in their futures. They need supports throughout their day in order to succeed.
My Project
Our students make craft kits for the patients at Seattle's Children's Hospital. Making these craft kits requires our students to practice their skills of following directions, cutting, reading and interacting with others. Our students will make craft kits out of the String Art Kit, Scratch-Art Scratch-Lite Kit, The Ancient Art of Origami Kit and the Peel N Stick Mosaic Coaster Kit. The Crayola Colored Pencil Set and the Prang Master Pack of Crayons will give our students the practice sorting the crayons and pencils for the patients.
These projects will give our students the opportunity to practice their vocational skills while creating crafts for the patients at Seattle Children's Hospital.
The students make the kits with varying levels of support and prompts. These kits give the patients and families of Seattle Children's Hospital the opportunity to be creative and find some happiness throughout the day. These craft kit components will benefit many in our community.
