Last year, my school was extremely overcrowded and all third, fourth, and fifth grade classes were held in portable classrooms. Over the winter holiday, a new school was built for the K-2 classes, which allowed all of the 3-5 teachers to move back inside the building. Before, conducting science experiments was difficult because of the lack of space and running water. Now, not only do teachers have more spacious rooms, but we also have a huge room designated for the science lab. U nfortunately, we have no materials for this lab. I am asking for you, the donor, to help my school stock this lab with different materials to help us conduct meaningful, hands-on lessons. I would like to stock our science lab and give teachers the opportunity to either bring their classes into the lab to work and learn or check out materials to use in their own classrooms. It is a proven fact that students learn better when engaged in hands-on activities that are meaningful to them. In order for teachers at my school to properly allow students to explore their natural curiosity, we need materials in this lab. I have requested hands-on materials that specifically relate to our state's science and math standards. Some of these materials include thermometers, magnifying lenses, interlocking cubes, models, shells, magnet kits, and a relief map of the ocean floor. These materials are grade level specific and will be used by over 900 students each year. By donating, you will be reaching a huge number of students not only this year, but in years to come.
