Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Project Prom happens directly after prom is over and is an event that helps prevent possible risky behavior & harm students are sometimes exposed to on this particular night. We want to provide a sensible & enjoyable alcohol & drug-free alternative celebration following our prom. This event is put on by the high school senior parents that volunteer their time and raise funds to rent a fun area for a lock-in. We want to keep these young adults OFF the roads. Please help us gather prizes our seniors will use at college & want to win at project Prom. These are age-appropriate prizes that students can win and use in dorm rooms during college. We were hoping items like omelet and grilled cheese makers, air fryers, and DASH mini makers would encourage healthier food choices and easy-to-use practical gifts for students that often lack cooking skills and are busy with school. Other items such as the cake pops are fun & we all know college students need coffee so we added a coffee maker! Our project will encourage students to make good choices, keep grades up, volunteer for community services, and help out where they can. Free tutoring is offered during our hour-long lunch period for students to get help with assignments, catch up on homework and missing assignments, and get information on future careers and possible scholarship opportunities. We offer opportunities to donate items such as food, toys, and even prom clothing. We try to encourage students to be well-rounded individuals, and in return for these great choices, students can earn raffle tickets for these prizes. We want a fun-filled safe night for our seniors so they can enjoy themselves with no regrets and have a bright future ahead.
