Our one-of-a-kind high school is centered around students that have perhaps struggled on a campus with thousands of students, experienced instability in their home lives, or simply need a team of teachers that support them in their life goals by recognizing and respecting who they truly are. Our small classrooms allow our school to feel more like a close-knit family, and previous years have proven our model to be the best way to set up these particular students for future success.
The students in our school are from anywhere in the district and considered AT-RISK.
Our goal is to provide them with an opportunity to grow and learn in a stable and comfortable environment with some of their biggest supporters and advocates.
My Project
In Hauke's Family and Consumer Sciences classroom, our priority is to equip the students with the skills they need to go straight to work. In our changing world, there is such a large focus on health and safety in the workplace, that we want our students to be able to walk into a new work environment and understand the importance of following guidelines of the Health Department and/or OSHA.
By creating a classroom lab that resembles the workplace and holds the students accountable for following the same workplace safety guidelines, we are best preparing them for success!
One of our biggest safety struggles has been concerning flooring in the classroom labs. The commercial grade rubber mats we are asking for are not only very similar to what they will see in the workplace, but most importantly, they will ensure our students are safe from falls throughout the learning process.
