This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students in second grade are rapidly transitioning from emergent readers to sophisticated readers capable of reading uncontrolled texts. We need class sets of diverse chapter books that students can practice their comprehension skills on by engaging in book clubs with peers. By having multiple copies of the same books, students can engage in discussions with their peers.

Chapter books can be expensive to buy in multiples, particularly books with diverse characters that offer windows and mirrors for the students of our school.
