Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Lady Lions Basketball team are off to a successful basketball season! They are practicing hard both on and off the court and we want them to be able to incorporate their health and wellness into their love for the game!

"The Hydration Heroes: Fueling Young Athletes for Energy, Focus, and Fun!" Virtual workshop will provide our Lady Lions with a fun way to learn about healthy choices that can impact their performance in school and in basketball.

Run by Certified Holistic Health Coach Brittany Wallace, the players will get to meet and speak to a Bronx native who also has won a NCAA Championship with Rutgers WBB and has played professionally overseas. Not only will your donation support this workshop and our team, but support a small business with a big mission on health and wellness for student athletes (Smiling Bellies, LLC)

Through interactive virtual activities, visuals, and simple science students will learn:

*Why water is the body's best teammate

*How dehydration can make them feel tired, dizzy, or lose focus

*When and how much to drink before, during, and after activity

*How foods like fruits and veggies help keep the body hydrated too

*Smart swaps for sugary drinks and colorful sports beverages
