Hello! We are a small, project-based public school serving a diverse community of learners in the Excelsior district of San Francisco. One of our traditions is to take our graduating 8th graders on a three-night camping trip at the end of the year.
Please help us enrich the lives of our city kids by sending them camping in the Sierra Nevada!
We always return to the same campground in Pinecrest, CA. This year, costs for transportation have skyrocketed, which is why we need your help! Our 8th graders contribute some money, but most receive free or reduced priced lunches, and their families cannot afford to make up the difference. That's why I'm reaching out to you!
My Project
Our 8th grade students will hike, boat, swim, play sports, and explore the great outdoors in the Stanislaus National Forest, just north of Yosemite National Park. We will camp at a UC Berkeley alumni camp, Camp Oski, which graciously opens early for our school.
Most of our students were born and raised in San Francisco and have never been to the Sierra Nevada.
Many have never been away from their families. This trip is a chance for the graduating 8th graders to bond, relax, and explore the natural beauty of California with their friends while building independence and risk-taking skills.
