My students need science materials to help them learn about the world around them, so they can fully grasp a new science unit that's being implemented in our district.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all different backgrounds, and are constantly full of surprises! They have an eagerness to learn that is a joy to experience.
The best word I can think of to describe this bunch is lively!
Each day is a new one full of different experiences, courtesy of them. My class is made up of 17 of them, ranging from ages 7 to 8. They all have different learning styles and personalities and bring those with them to class each day.
My Project
I teach at an inner-city elementary school. Recently we've received a new curriculum for science that needs a more a hands-on approach. We focus on weather, force & motion, magnetism and simple machines but unfortunately, we are limited in the needed materials to help us to fully meet the requirements of this new curriculum.
Hands-on is so important when it comes to learning, and even more so when it comes to learning about science!
I'm hoping to get these materials to help my students fully understand what I'm teaching them. The Magnetic Activity Tub will be used to help them develop an understanding of solving real-world problems. The Weather Activity Tub and Learning Center will be used to help them compare and contrast weather patterns from different regions of the world. The headphones will allow them to individually listen to information from their computers to reinforce lessons. The Simple Machines Activity Lab will help them better understand the inner workings of these machines, and how they're used in our every day lives. The Force and Motion Activity Lab will help them to plan and carry out investigations about these two elements of science.
As a whole, these activity labs, learning centers, and additional teaching tools will help my students to see that what I'm teaching them isn't limited to pages in a few books, but can be found all around them. I know my kids will all love and benefit from these materials.
