My Students
The advertisements are everywhere, "It's back to school time!" For parents everywhere that means they will have to spend a lot of money purchasing new clothes, books and other school supplies for their children. Lets think about the parents who cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplies.
My school is located in one of the poorest sections of New York City.
A lot of them live in the nearby projects and some even live in surrounding shelters with their families.
Ninety-eight percent of the children get free lunches every day. Parents struggle every day to send their children to school. I would like to ease some of the burdens of the parents this year as I always do by helping them with school supplies for their children. Parents were indeed grateful for the supplies that were given to us by Donors Choose.
My Project
My students need school supplies such as books, pencils, glue, paper and scissors to help them with their daily classroom assignments. My students will use the material in the most productive way fulfilling their daily assignments. They will need the books and pencils to complete their writing, literacy and math assignments. The markers and crayons will also help in the completion of daily assignments. Without these materials the children will not be able to do their work in class. These material are for the entire school year and will also be shared with other needy children in the school. As teachers we have to ensure that all children are treated equally therefore it is within our best interest that all the children have whatever materials they need to learn in school.
As stated before my project will make a world of difference in the lives of these children.
First, lets take into consideration the fact that most of these children live in homes where the parents simply cannot afford to buy what they need to learn in school. Helping them with their school supplies will go a long way in ensuring that all the children will have the opportunity to complete their work in school as they strive toward getting an education.
