My school has almost 50% Hispanic population. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are new in a formal school setting. We move from learning letters to reading very quickly, so my students are continually striving to meet grade-level expectations with vocabulary and support deficits at home.
Seventy-one percent of my students qualify for free lunch.
Students in my class struggle with having food to eat at times, and they need the education to chase their dreams. I have some amazingly bright minds. I know they have so much potential to rise from difficult situations.
My Project
Helping Children with ADHD in the Classroom is such an important part of allowing students to meet their full potential in the classroom.
The Wobble Chair is designed with a rounded bottom and transforms a dull conventional seat into a chair for active learning and movement.
I have several students who could truly use the wobble chairs. They struggle constantly moving, laying over the table, always needing stimulation. The wobble chairs will be an outlet for restlessness and extra energy. The chairs are quiet, swivel around 360 degrees, and increase the student's ability to focus. A true need for my first graders.
