My Project

In any hobby, profession, or activity, having the needed supplies is crucial. Playing sports? You'll need the proper safety equipment. Cooking? You'll need an apron and some pots and pans. Music is no different; besides an instrument, a musician needs things like various oils and greases, rosin, pencils, and sheet music.

The reed is one of the most critical components to a woodwind player's sound.

When a reed is chipped or cracked, a musician's sound suffers, and having no reed at all to replace the broken reed is disastrous to a young musician's arc of learning. Class is better when you get involved; a student without a reed isn't engaged in rehearsal.

My students are hard workers, and many of them come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Unfortunately, sometimes having extra reeds on hand doesn't happen since families need to make ends meet, and reeds pale in importance to the basics. Having extra reeds on hand helps me keep the students engaged and their learning arc on an upward trajectory!
