This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me enhance my classroom with resources for my students to take a brain break and express their creativity through imaginative play. With the help of items like Legos and K'Nex, students can design and build structures, encouraging them to think creatively and find solutions to problems. Engaging in these activities can help when students encounter obstacles in the building. They will learn to persist, try different approaches, and develop resilience. This can transfer to their academic and personal lives, helping them tackle challenges with a growth mindset.
My student population also faces stress from outside factors and can benefit from creative play as an emotional release.
Building and imagining allows them to express themselves in a constructive way, offering a break from academic pressures and other external challenges.
Working with Legos and K'Nex often involves group projects, which teach students how to collaborate, communicate, and share ideas. This teamwork builds essential social skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and leadership.
Incorporating imaginative play with Legos and K'Nex into my classroom can thus enhance both cognitive and emotional development, giving my students valuable tools for success.
