Learn in different ways and can get "bored" if they are not taught in new and exciting ways. Science is a hard subject for some students to understand and because of this, many students fail and have to retake the course. Students these days need to be taught in new ways to keep their interest. By having hands on activities, videos, reading, art and gaming, student should be able to learn the content in some way that engages them. Not all students learn from old-school lectures and tests anymore.
My Project
I am always looking for better ways to teach my students about evolution. I have a few assignments I have used in the past, but they are outdated and my students have had a hard time staying engaged. I have colleagues who have used this evolution game, called Natural Selection Game, before and have said their students enjoyed it. My students will be able to create their own organism and play to see if their organism will survive! So cool!!
When students have the opportunity to learn in a variety of different ways, they will find that they will stay engaged and learn more.
I love to see students have fun while learning and I would love to play this game with them!
