I am lucky enough to teach bright, determined, and creative students who are unafraid to show their love of learning on a daily basis. Any teacher who has students as devoted as mine has the duty to match that love of academics with all of the available resources possible. This is why both my co-teacher and I are looking to obtain extra classroom materials for our amazing group of students. Through their perseverance of coming to school each day, ready to learn, we want to give them the best opportunity possible to succeed in U.S. History.
Within our fabulous group of school-loving students, we accommodate multiple different types of learners, with 9th graders of all reading levels and ability levels.
We also have students of multiple diverse backgrounds who love to bring their ethnicity and culture into our class.
Many times, students come to school hungry or use the only money that they have access to in order to buy breakfast at the local deli. Students who are not lucky enough to have money in their pockets come to school with a growling stomach. Many times, they try to buy snacks at the school store but use this small bag of Cheetos or bag of cookies as their only source of nutrition for the day. Every student needs food in order to learn and grow with the demanding environment of high school, but many of the students try to get through the day without any sort of real nutrition. This is why me and my co-teacher are asking for donations that will be used primarily for food.
We also need extra resources, since many of the resources are used frequently and the supplies run out extremely fast.
We laminate many papers for their daily activities to re-use for each and every class. We also have classroom supplies that are getting older since they have been used for many years. Our students love to use the futon to work on their classwork and on project, or even come into class during their off-periods to work in a comfortable space. This is why we need to purchase anew cover each and every year. Help me make a difference in my students' lives through these helpful resources!
