My Project

I see my students struggle with their emotional and social well-being each and every day. As the School Social Worker, teaching and practicing emotional regulation is a priority. Many of my students have difficult pasts, home lives, or other situations that are beyond their control. Coming to school does not erase that. My kids struggle to problem solve, manage emotions, and cope with difficult situations. Having the resources to assist in this teaching is imperative to their learning. Tools such as sensory pillow, other sensory tools, and games designed for therapeutic intervention, and books to allow children to understand their emotions will allow me to further their social and emotional development. Many of the items in my project will allow my students resources and tools to self-regulate. The games and books I am requesting are an interactive tool to engage them in learning about emotion and generate conversation about how they are feeling and how they can grow to achieve their highest level of development making academic learning more accessible. My students deserve the opportunity to feel safe and protected in school and should have the opportunity to access the best tools to assist in this. SEL lesson plans will be developed around the items being requested to most effectively teach according to their developmental level. Today school is stressful for many students. I believe that children learn best when they have a strong social and emotional foundation. I want to enhance this foundation for my students. These tools will help with that!
