Help My Kindergartners Wiggle While They Work With Flexible Seating!
Help me give my students the option for flexible seating! My project includes on the go 16"carpet squares for each of my students, wobble cushions/stools and ball seats!!
Meet my cooperating classroom ( I am currently student teaching, however, next year I will be teaching kindergarten at the same school) - sixteen kindergartners who love active learning, love to read, love to learn math and love to create and explore! My students are mostly Native American and they come from diverse backgrounds.
Our school has a student population that includes: 95% minorities, 100% of students who receive free/reduced price lunch (the school has a grant that currently covers this) and 87% of students are from low-income families.
My Project
Flexible seating will be perfect for my students. This will help them have variety in their education by giving them the ability to move around while they are learning. These alternative seating options will help the students enjoy their classroom and be excited to learn. The average kindergartner attention span is around 5 - 6 minutes. Flexible seating will be utilized to keep the learning fun and the new knowledge retained.
The option to move around while learning can boost self regulation, engagement and concentration!
This will be especially useful to my students that require movement to focus. They will love this!
