Help My First Graders Access the World!

Help me give my students access to the world with Chromebooks just like the students in neighboring suburban communities.

My Students

I love my kids! This fall, I have 25 excited friends in my first grade class.

My first graders make my heart sing!

They are inquisitive little sponges who love to learn, talk, dance, and play. They share stories about their families through their writing. They will have their greatest amount of reading growth this year. The math that they will be able to do at the end of the year always amazes me. They love our hands-on science lessons and engineering challenges.

If this group of students is anything like those I've had in the past, they will embrace our classroom's mantras, "Practice makes progress!" and "I can't do it...yet!" and "This is how we do it!" (cue the disco music).

Many of my students have experienced trauma and challenging family situations, and many are English Learners, but they mostly come to school with smiles on their faces, ready to learn, every day. What more could I ask for? I am blessed!

My Project

With Chromebooks, students can tap into the power of the Internet—and because the devices include keyboards, they build essential keyboarding skills required by the Common Core and many state standards as they research, collaborate, learn, and create. The keyboard alone is a tremendous value as our students are now required to take their state tests on computers.

I will be able to transform my classroom into a connected and collaborative learning center.

Imagine! My first graders will be able to go on a virtual safari or watch astronauts read books. They will be able to watch their favorite authors read books. The learning and the fun will have no limits!
