I am a music teacher at a new elementary school (6 years old) with quite a diverse body of students from various levels of financial, cultural, and developmental backgrounds where the standard for excellence is very high. Our school has both a demographic of low and high income families. We have both special needs and gifted learners. The background and learning range is enormous! It is my job to teach all 480 students, Kindergarten through 5th Grade, the art of music theory and performance. What a wonderful challenge!
As you know, the language of music is a valuable tool to build relationships and solidify key concepts.
In order to accomplish this task throughout the year, I need supplies and resources to make the job easier for me and fun for them. I love to teach them in creative ways, so I cannot wait to partner with you to grow these young minds!
My Project
I am not only a music teacher, but also a professional musician in our community. There are two major issues I have seen with rising musicians that I would like to address with these Casio Mini Keyboards.
There has been a decline in music sight reading skills in recent generations.
Students may have raw, natural talent, but lack the ability to perform in a group setting due to their music reading skills. The other issue is the limited amount of private piano instructors, their availability, and the extra financial burden of private lessons.
Having these keyboards available in our classroom would give me the opportunity to not only teach our children the basics of the instrument, but also build their sight reading skills. My goal is to teach the skill and provide the keyboards as a learning station so that the students can practice that skill. I need your help to raise quality musicians!
