My students are the most respectful, hard-working students in our area. They use the equipment that is available to them, and I believe they deserve to receive something new. We are in a very rural area, where most of our students are at or below the poverty line. I cannot justify asking students to bring in their own equipment, as sometimes the cost of these items are too expensive for them or their parents.
My students work hard, and they deserve to have equipment in their room that reflects their work and dedication.
I wish I could go to the store right now and supply them, unfortunately, I cannot. They never complain when their items do not work, and I always have a plan B just in case the equipment fails us. This makes it hard for the students to reach their full potential, as we have to move on to different tasks because we do not have the proper means to resolve them.
My Project
This is a great opportunity for me to give my students new calculators to use. MY area has three-quarters of the students living in low-income households, so this is a great way to not only help them but to show the community that we can come together and help our students. The ones we have in the classroom now are getting outdated, and a facelift in the calculator department would be a great move in the right direction.
I can not think of a better way to show my students that I care about their success than trying to get them new calculators for the classroom.
They work really hard for me, and they deserve something new. The students in this area would really appreciate any help.
