Our school is using the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports framework this year. Teachers have created and updated school expectations for our students on numerous occasions. Our faculty has explicitly taught these expectations since the first day of school and continue to reinforce them each day, including a mid-year meeting for reminders of the expectations.
The interventions and supports that are put in place provide students with incentives to "purchase" using the points they have earned in my class for their behavior and efforts.
We have planned many school-wide activities for students, but I’d like to provide additional incentives. Using the electronic PBIS program helps me create my own store for students to redeem their points. I asked students throughout my math classes in a Google Doc to list some rewards that they would like to earn. Their lists included the following: takis, ring pops, mints, bracelets and more. In addition, I wanted to refresh our class toolboxes that contain pencils, manual sharpeners and erasers to set them up for success.
My students are eager to earn points and would love to redeem them for these rewards. Also, they will be excited to have all the tools necessary for class in one place.
