Help Me Love to Read! eReaders Can Help!

My students need these 3 eReaders to help add some excitement to reading for my students. It will also help add to my classroom library.

My Students

"I hate reading...." "Reading is boring..." "I hate this book..." I hand my students a computer or another piece of technology and the switches turn on! By using eReaders I know that I can add some excitement to something they rarely enjoy.

My students have been taken out of their home schools because of behavior.

In most cases their behavior is a reflection of being behind academically. So many times they have the attitude that it is better to appear bad rather than done. As my students come to me I have to convince them that they are not dumb and don't have to be bad. Slowly they learn to trust that I am not going to leave them in the dust and give up on them. By being patient and using lots of technology I have been able to watch students blossom and open up to the possibilities that education can really take them places.

My Project

By donating to this project, you will be adding these three eReaders to my classroom in order to build a center that involves reading using the eReader technology. I teach language arts so under that class title I have to teach them to read, write, research, and many other skills. By building centers I am able to address skills in a much more effective manner. My students will learn to appreciate the written word in a different format that they find more interesting.

The school that I teach in works on a very limited budget.

We are supported by our district for staff and basic supplies, but to add something like these eReaders is not something that would be high on the budget. I would ultimately like to have more than three eReaders, but to start with these and measure how my students benefit from this to begin with will show me how many more I might want to add.
