My Students

I teach First Grade and absolutely love it! First grade is such a developmental year for reading and math skills. First graders are so eager to learn that their joy and excitement are contagious.

I want to continue to find ways to make learning a joy in this crazy world.

My school is Pre-Kindergarten through First Grade. We are also blessed to have a Transitional First and Second grade classrooms. We have approximately 600 children at our school. We are a Title I School with a major group of children on free or reduced-price lunches.

My Project

I use Kindle Fires daily during reading for Listening to Read and during math for math stories and videos. GetEpic! is an amazing website for children to listen to stories and watch educational videos during Daily 5. Children get a variety of genres to choose from daily. They get way more stories and genres at the palm of their hands than I could ever give them as a teacher. GetEpic! also helps integrate reading into math by math stories and math videos on their levels. The children also get to research certain topics we are working on to include technology. I also use computers daily for reading and math games to reinforce skills being taught.

I need headphones to keep these fun stations working properly inside my classroom!

The children LOVE these stations. Reading and math are essential for first graders. I want to keep learning alive by finding ways to keep my classroom kiddos actively engaged.
