I need to continue my professional learning using the Sphero Edu program. This will allow me to take my students even further with the Sphero Spark robots we started using last year.
In my current position as the STEAM cluster teacher, I work to incorporate the five disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math to bring STEAM alive in our school. My students range from kindergarten through 5th grade and I teach a variety of learners. From students with Special Needs in our Autistic Horizon classes or ICT students to our more independent learners, all students have access to STEM-related activities at all levels when they visit me. My students are excited each day and enjoy a positive Project Based Learning experience filled with collaboration and fun!
I look forward to listening to the buzzing and chatting in my classroom as students try new strategies, share ideas and work as a team to become problem solvers.
We are all ready for the new and exciting adventures that our STEM classroom will bring.
My Project
This project will allow me to complete the 6 hour Sphero Edu course. I started using the Sphero robots last year and I was amazed at my students' reaction! These materials are so engaging for ALL learners at ALL levels. It provided my higher learners as well as my students with disabilities a way to engage with technology in a collaborative way. I was thrilled to see even my most challenged Autistic students succeed at writing code for their robot. I will use this course to add to what I have already learned by working with my students.
It will help me take my learners to the next level and it will also help me to differentiate my technology instruction across the grades I teach.
This project also includes the brand new Sphero Computer Science Foundations curriculum which aligned to the technology standards and the STEAM principles that are part of my instruction. It supports the growth of students and educators with cross curricular lessons and use of the Sphero robots.
