This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a Title I school in the East LA area and it's often brought to my attention that some students lack basic hygiene needs. Students are often absent due to lacking deodorant, shampoo, clean clothes etc. Research has shown that students who do not attend school because they don't have basic hygiene, miss out on their academic education.

This project will allow us to have hygiene items available for students to enhance their self-confidence, mental wellness, self-confidence and promote school attendance.

We will also create hygiene kits for our graduating seniors as they embark on a new academic journey and/or trade.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
