As supporters of lifelong learning, our preschool and pre-kindergarten staff serves 3, 4, and 5 year old children on the west-side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of our families live in poverty and 61% of our children receive special education services.
We support the idea there are items children need so they daily feel ready to learn and continue to be lifelong learners.
Our children come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Staff provide monthly parent and family programs to support families in many ways. Many of our families work in low income jobs.
My project is to help provide pants for our preschoolers to change into after having bathroom accidents. These pants will be available to students who have accidents during the day. Many of our boys need pants because they are just learning how to let the teacher know when they need to use the bathroom.
Some are non-verbal and others struggle with communicating their needs.
We have no other funding to provide for these needs.
The need is a weekly here at our preschool for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Many of our children have special needs which makes communicating their needs even more of a struggle.
