My Students

My students are from a rural, poverty-stricken town in central West Virginia. Many are being raised by grandparents due to drug addiction in the community. I have every class in the school once every 3 days for 45 minutes.

Although they seem to have it rough, they live life to the fullest.

They are happy, energetic, loving, and love to learn. They always try their hardest and want to do their best.

My Project

I see every student in grades K-5 once every 3 days for 45 minutes a day. As mentioned in introduction, many students have it rough. Our school is a Title I school with more than 75% living below the poverty line. I see their excitement when they receive even the smallest gift. I would be so happy to give each individual child a type of fidget to take home with them for Christmas or to keep at school. Fidgets can be used as a tool to help kids with anxiety, but the most common reason they are used is for attention or difficulty sitting still.
