My Students

If you have ever stepped into a primary classroom you will understand my dilemma. I have created great centers for my Pre-K students to work in, but without some type of divider the trucks end up in puzzles and the pom-poms and feathers from art end up everywhere!

Hi, I am a veteran special education teacher who recently transferred to a new district and brand new school.

Unfortunately, I was unable to take most of my DonorsChoose.org resources from my previous school. I love my new job and have been fortunate enough to have several projects funded by Donors Choose that have helped me set up new centers. The problem I have is one of organization with my little ones. I teach a fantastic group of kids with various disabilities which include Developmental Delays, Autism, Physical and Other Health Impairments.

My Project

I want to set up dividers between my centers, but was hesitant because of my student's ages and disabilities. Traditional dividers do not allow you to keep your eyes on the kids at all times. I was so pleased when I looked into Lakeshore's new catalog and saw that they featured a new clear view acrylic shelf divider. I feel the clear divider will enable me to keep the kids in their own centers, but never take my eyes off them because the divider is totally clear. Kids need their own areas "centers" to learn and grow. This is the perfect solution to my problem. I think it is great that the kids will continue to see what their classmates are doing...which I hope sparks their creativity and imaginations when they move to the next center. This is a win - win situation in my eyes.
