Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are diverse kids from different countries in Latin America. My school is a Title I school, over 90% of the school's population is economically disadvantaged. My students are all bilingual students who are eager to learn. Through this project, I hope to be able to give them many learning tools that will help them be engaged in learning.
My students have already stolen my heart after the second day of school!
The way that they learn and look at the world with such intense curiosity is more than enough to know that they deserve the best educational experience.
My Project
Each item has a purpose for the student's learning. The counting cones will help my students to develop skills in numbers, counting one-to-one correspondence and at the same time they are learning through hands-on activities. The "Squeeze, scoop & count ice cream shop" and the "nuts about counting" will help them in their motor skills coordination while at the same time help them develop counting numbers up to 10. Understanding the relationship between numbers and quantities, and building fine motor skills.
As a teacher I believe learning should be fun and there is no better way to do that than through hands-on activities.
Each center will target the skills they need to develop number recognition through play.
I believe my students will learn a lot by using these resources at the same time they are practicing their fine motor skills through hands-on learning.
