This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the first time you experienced something as a child that gave you a life long passion? That's what I hope to achieve for some of my students through this project.

My students are in a unique situation.

They are living in a locally historic time period surrounded by a crazy, diverse, and growing culture. There are unique factors from this that create new and big challenges for the children in the area. Many of them are new to the area after leaving what they have been used to for most of their lives (which is likely very different from life here), and because of the nature of this area there will only be more and more significant changes to their lives in the future. I only have a small window of time to try and give them some much needed stability through a passion they can pursue for a lifetime.

My Project

I am a science teacher. So the resources I am asking for through this project are all geared toward teaching that subject in a unique approach. The materials include everything necessary to take care of a few small animals, as well as a few other small items to help teach different aspects of science. It is normal for a teacher to want to teach in a fun and somewhat inspiring manor as learning is much more conducive in a fun environment. While those are goals I share as well, I also have a goal of introducing a strong passion for learning. To try and give the children something rarely given. I can teach them normal science through normal classroom procedures and normal classroom supplies. But if I want to do more than just teach normal science, if I instead want to help inspire a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning new things, I will need to do more than normal classroom procedures and I will need more than normal classroom supplies. That last part is where I need your help.

I don't aim to provide my students a simple fish.

I aim to teach my students how to fish and more... I aim to give them a hunger for more by teaching uniquely and with unique tools.
