This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Hello! Next year I'll be headed into my 8th year of education! For the past couple years I've been teaching Special Education Social Studies. Next year I will be moving into a General Education setting for Social Studies. Whereas I previously shared a room with 2 other teachers, this upcoming school year I'll have my own classroom and a lot more students. I will be going from teaching 30 students to 150! While I love that impact as an educator is increasing, I'm going to need some extra help preparing for larger class sizes.
I need help gathering supplies, decor, and tech to furnish my new classroom.
Creating a positive learning environment is so important to student learning. Students have a better time learning when they're comfortable and their needs are being met.
On my list I have several items related to supplies, decor, and classroom furniture. I also have a monitor listed to help me better facilitate lessons and my administrative duties. As I enter the general education, space I want to make sure that I'm set up for success.
I currently teach at a Title 1 School in the DC area. This means that a lot of my supplies I normally provide on my own as my students struggle with getting the supplies themselves. As my class load increases, I'm going to need some extra help making sure all of my students are supported.
