Your contributions made it possible for our students to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning that went far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nOver the course of six weeks this summer, our scholars developed valuable skills such as collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving while learning how to build partnerships with local businesses and organizations. They also gained real-world experience in service leadership—learning what it takes to plan, manage, and operate a community-based store on a day-to-day basis.\r\n\r\nThis project has laid a strong foundation for continued growth and impact. We are proud to share that this initiative is still ongoing as our students continue to refine their business plan, strengthen community connections, and prepare to open a fully functioning store by December 2025.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our scholars' learning, leadership, and future. Your generosity truly helps us build a stronger bridge between education and community impact.","fullyFundedDate":1746699665877,"projectUrl":"project/impacting-the-community-through-service/9218318/","projectTitle":"Impacting the Community Through Service Leadership","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alexander","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9556053"},{"teacherId":9753915,"projectId":8793015,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity in helping fund our project. The students were extremely appreciative and surprised by all the new supplies. These resources have made our little small room feel safe and fun. \r\n We have used our new resources in individual and group counseling sessions to support team building and self-expression. Students have the freedom to chose how they would like to engage and express themselves, where some of the items have provided students with a new experience and a core memory. Specifically, we used the figures received to engage in sandtray activities which is a therapeutic activity used to help students share feels, emotions, and thoughts without having to speak. \r\n As my students start a new school year, they are becoming self-aware and practicing self-advocacy. Students are being encouraged to advocate for their needs which could be a break to decompress using available fidgets and therapeutic resources. We are continuing with our goal of providing a school experience that supports the development of the WHOLE child into self-sufficient citizens.","fullyFundedDate":1735678466765,"projectUrl":"project/who-doesnt-like-to-play/8793015/","projectTitle":"Who Doesn't Like to Play?!?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9753915_orig.jpg?crop=923,923,x0,y144&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726586796414","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9753915"},{"teacherId":9181379,"projectId":8986263,"letterContent":"The generous donations to the Paul PCS track team have had a profound positive impact on the athletes. Providing them with the necessities to participate in a sport that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline is a game changer. For many of these young athletes, access to organized sports programs can be a barrier due to financial constraints. Your donations have helped alleviate these barriers by covering the costs of practice clothes, first aid needs and equipment. As a result, these students gain not only athletic skills but skills in community building and partnership, which can carry over into their personal lives.\r\n\r\nMoreover, the track team's success, supported by these donations, serves as an inspiration to the wider community, showing young minority kids that they too can achieve greatness regardless of their socioeconomic background. Donations to the team are more than just financial contributions; they represent hope and opportunity, fostering self-confidence and a sense of belonging for kids who might otherwise feel excluded from such opportunities. This support is instrumental in shaping their futures and empowering them to break through barriers that may have otherwise seemed insurmountable.","fullyFundedDate":1736369135647,"projectUrl":"project/keep-us-running/8986263/","projectTitle":"Keep Us Running","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9181379_orig.jpg?crop=1200,1200,x0,y196&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703620534736","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9181379"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_24190","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":751,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":46,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"37.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":38.2,"schoolId":24190,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Paul Public Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Paul Public Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/district-of-columbia-public-charter-school-board/paul-public-charter-school/24190"}
