My Project

In my classroom, students begin and end each day with a group gathering. These routines help foster a positive climate and strong relationships. However, our current classroom seating arrangement lacks a designated, comfortable space where students can come together. A smiley face rug will not only add comfort and color to our room but also provide a visually engaging and emotionally supportive atmosphere—something especially important for young learners.

Project Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment.

Objective: Install a rug that brings joy and encourages positive interactions.

Goal 2: Improve student engagement in group discussions and activities.

Objective: Use the rug as a central meeting area for daily morning meetings, read-alouds, and partner work.

Goal 3: Support social-emotional development through shared space.

Objective: Provide a space where students feel safe and included, promoting cooperation and mutual respect.

Project Description and Implementation:

Upon receiving funding, I will purchase a high-quality smiley face rug from a reputable educational supplier. The rug will be placed in a central area of the classroom and used daily during circle time, story sessions, social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons, and class meetings.
