Help me give my students a new experience of the wonders and tragedies of African American History. I will be providing this through books, movies and posters.

My Students

I am preparing to teach an African American History/Studies class in 2019-2020. This will be a semester-long class and have about 15 students per semester. My students- like most of America- do not know what they are missing. I have wonderful students who, for the most part, want to get in a get their cognitive feet wet. They are anxious to learn and learn differently if needed. To me and to some of my students, we want to do more then just lecture, we want to feel history.

My Project

African American History, taught in high school, is usually marginalized and is not treated with the time and respect that it deserves.

Help me teach my students to feel and experience African-American history.

I want to create a semester-long African American History class where my students learn and teach. I will take my class to local elementary first and second grade classes to read African American history themed picture books to the young students.

I hope to change the world, 15 students at a time. I know that society can be changed for the better if we learn and respect histories of our fellow man [and woman].
