This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all vivacious, talented and ready to take on the world. In our classroom, students engage in rigorous study of acting and theater production. They are focused and loving.
I am so grateful to be one of my effervescent students' theater teachers.
I look forward to experiencing their love of theater as I share my own. We are like a family in our theater department. One of our favorite quotes is "Ohana means family" from the animated film "Lilo and Stitch." We feel it describes our world.
My Project
My students have never had the opportunity to perform in a historical period piece at my school. I want to provide them with the costumes and props they need to successfully perform in the Victorian french farce, Is He Dead? by Mark Twain. Participating in this production will support my students becoming college ready. Wearing historically appropriate costumes and using umbrellas and gloves as they did during this time period will allow my students to grow in their understanding in how to perform in this kind of production which will allow them more opportunity to compete in the world of theater. I am preparing them all to be college bound and ready for their field of theater. Please help me provide them with a one of a kind experience through these costumes and props.
