My Students

My students have eyes that are full of wonder, hands that are constantly busy, mouths that are full of questions, bodies that squirm with anticipation, and minds that are eager to learn. This is how my young kindergarten students arrive at school. They are excited to be part of the big school and to start down their formalized education path.

They enter as young children, scared and uncertain, but they leave as experienced students with knowledge and confidence.

They know that learning is fun!

My Project

Kindergarten students love to learn about the world around them, interact with friends, and discover what makes things work. Science is one of their favorite subjects because they get to do each of these things. In my classroom, I try to have meaningful science supplies that let my students try things out for themselves. Sticky hands can represent frog tongues that help catch bugs. Balloon sticks can help paper bats use echolocation around our room. Smelly stickers let students use orthonasal olfaction which is more commonly called their sense of smell. Students can work in small groups to help solve problems faced by some of their favorite fairy tale characters.

With these new science supplies, my little scientists will be able to make big discoveries about the world around them through strengthening their curiosity, making observations, and connecting new experiences to familiar ideas.

They will be able to build, explore, and realize that there are many wonderful things to find out about this big world we live in.

My Kindergarten students will be able to use these supplies in a whole class setting, in small groups, as partners, and even by themselves. These quality supplies will last for many lessons to come and will help many students discover a love for science.
