Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school serves a low-income, high poverty community. I teach 14 kids who are raised in a rural community where opportunities are few and hardships are the norm. One hundred percent of students receive a free breakfast as well as a free lunch.
Confidences are boosted and social and emotional skills improve through the magical wonder of puppets.
My goal is for my students to understand their world around them through imaginative and safe play. Please help these kids explore and learn with hand puppets. Through donors, little kids can express their big imaginations!
My Project
When children are given the opportunity to play with puppets, a whole new world is open to them. With puppetry, kids can be a farmer like their parents, a vet because they love animals and even an astronaut to explore the Milky Way! Children can read their favorite book to a puppet, especially if they are shy or struggling to read. Puppetry is a resource targeted to not only benefit the students emotionally and socially but improves motor skills, encourages creativity and promotes dramatic play. Young minds can use puppetry to improve their reading skills and build their vocabulary. Minds are molded and imaginations run wild when kids have the right resources and tools.
