My Students
Every day my students enter the classroom excited and ready to learn. Our goal this year in second grade is to improve fluency. We are on our way, but the requested Kindle Fire would be a great help!
My students are an energetic bunch!
They are constantly on the move from the minute they arrive to the minute they leave. Our room is full of energy. I teach two groups of second grade students who come to me like sponges, ready to soak up all I have to give. We do a lot of small group work in second grade and my students LOVE to read. They read to themselves, they read with a partner, they read to me, they read to ANYONE who will listen! They read on the computer, and they listen to reading! The only part of their day that is calm is when they are reading! All of my students grab a book, our iPad funded through DonorsChoose.org, one of the two district provided Kindles, one of four computers in our room, or the headphones in our listening center and get down to the business of building their stamina for reading! It is a wonderful sight to see them so engrossed in reading!
My Project
With the requested Kindle Fire, my students will have another access point to reading. I will download free books for my students to enjoy. They will read entertaining stories to make them laugh or biographies to learn facts about influential people. They will be able to read scientific articles to learn information about animals, the solar system, helium balloons and robots. The Kindle will give them access to texts about inventors and famous African Americans. The list goes on and on!
Donations to this project will enhance my students learning by providing another avenue for reading.
Technology is an important component in my classroom, and I love to expose my students to various resources to broaden their experiences.
