My Students
We are a rural school that is home to about 120 students. Our student population consists of 40% special education and 70% low-income. Many of our students come to us after struggling in other schools, and are eager for a different approach to learning.
I want my students to be passionate about researching and investigating concepts in mathematics they do not understand.
The biggest challenge in getting them there is having the technology resources to teach them how to research.
My Project
My students will use the three Chromebooks to be engaged in an interactive classroom. This includes using apps that allow individual responses to questions, journals to document learning, and the ability to research concepts that students wish to know more about. Students will develop a deeper understanding of mathematics concepts through professional use of technology.
These students are eager for a different approach to learning.
The lecture and individual practice with paper and pencil has not worked for these students. This project will provide students with the technology to learn how to seek out answers to their questions, document their learning, as well as learn appropriate use of technology. Funding this project will create the resources our students need to develop a passion for learning.
