Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine doing homework without pencils, crayons, or books to read. Reading logs would be impossible. Math homework would be hopeless! And projects? Forget it! Unfortunately, that is the reality of many of my students.

Many of these children are lacking the the necessary school supplies to complete their homework and to explore learning at home.

My students come from an inner-city school located in the heart of Springfield. These children are motivated, hard-working children that come from a poverty-stricken section of the city. Many come from homes that are economically disadvantaged and unable to afford the supplies that are crucial to complete their homework.

My goal is to supply my students with the tools they need to complete their homework at home and enjoy it! I want to foster a love of learning at home by making it fun and accessible!

My Project

These materials will greatly impact the educational experience of these children because it will extend their learning to a home experience as well. They can apply their learning in the classroom to their homework and work at home.

My children are so excited to go home and show their parents what they've learned!

It is important that we provide them with the supplies that are necessary to do so. We often take it for granted that we grew up with scissors, glue, pencils, and books at home. But the reality is, we expect these supplies to be accessible to children and they rarely are! This project will ensure the children are stocked with homework supplies!
