Each day, I teach mathematics to 65 third grade students in inner city Pittsburgh. My students often come to school without having eaten breakfast, or have not eaten enough or not eaten healthy. Sometimes I have kids who haven't even had dinner the night before. Even those who have often get a "rumbly in their tumbly" well before lunch time. Therefore, I try to provide snacks throughout the day. These snacks allow them to stay focused on my lesson instead of their hungry bellies.
Many of my students come to school without having eaten any breakfast, and if they did, it's often sugary which causes them to crash soon into the day. I have also had those who came to school without having had dinner the night before. For those reasons, I purchase healthy snacks to keep in my classroom for students.
Your assistance in purchasing a supply of healthy snacks, such as Cheezits, Goldfish, and granola bars, will help my students to stay focused on learning rather than hunger.
I will be able to keep an assortment of great options available for all of my students and can focus all of my energy on teaching.
