HELP For Young Scientists! Sixth Grade Class Is In Dire Need

My students need a scientific experience. A major standard is cells and single-celled organisms, and we have no microscopes! We would love a hands on experience.

My Students

Scientists in the making! We love science, but really actually have no real equipment to practice being scientists! Help us, become the Nobel Prize winners of our greatest potential!

Most of our students come from low-income households and have limited experiences.

I would like to provide an experience of hands on science, actually doing the science, creating slides, and being able to see the world that surrounds us! Most of the students will have never had these experiences, ever! The first time using a microscope can be illuminating! It is also a standard that is necessary for my students' futures in science!

My Project

My students have gotten excited about science in so many ways, but I would love for them to work on actual, true, science equipment, and every student have the job of looking through a microscope. Most times, I am buying the supplies for the classroom, and these microscopes carry a hefty price. The older students do not always get the resources that they need, due to the fact that most people, think "get to our students for early intervention". The 6th grade students are sometimes the last to receive any resources, just for the fact that they are the oldest in our school, and not old enough to get the resources in the higher grades at the Junior High or High school levels. Funding in our state has been cut, even to the low-income communities. I would really love my students from a smaller school, be competitive with the bigger, and more funded school systems.

My students are so appreciative for the tiniest things!

I would love for them to be excited about the world, science, and all its possibilities! please consider helping! I would also like them to know that there are good people in the world. Their situations can make them jaded at a young age, not only will you be helping academically, but also giving hope and creating new avenues for dreams (hopefully in science)! Many students this year, 6th grade, this is the 1st year for real science!
