This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am an interventionist for a low income school district that was in Hurricane Harvey’s path.Our school has chosen the Istation program to monitor students progress. I manage the students that test critical in the areas of reading and math. The majority of my students want to learn, they are just so far behind their grade levels that they get frustrated and act out. Some of their stories are not even fathomable to most of us. Their home lives are comparable to those you see in a movie. Some of these students, and teachers as well, are still not living in their homes, almost a year later!

Most of our students just want to know that someone cares, and I am that someone.

These babies hold a very special place in my heart. Once they leave the elementary, I follow their progress and make sure they keep traveling the right path.

My Project

Some of our students are still not in their homes after the last year of dealing with Hurricane Harvey. We have tried to make their transition back to school as easy as possible. These students deserve so much more than they have been dealt. They love to be interactive. I would like this project to be funded so that they can show their work and answers in a fun and different way. The write and wipe boards are a very fun way to do this, and the supply center for them helps me stay organized! Being an interventionist, I travel room to room, so the fold and go cart would be helpful in transporting my papers and supplies. The behavioral chart will help me keep up with the “not-so-good” days and track rewards. Any help towards reaching our goal would be appreciated!
